An Israeli woman has been hailed a hero after saving kibbutz Nir Am from Hamas as infiltrating forces began to invade the border village.

Inbar Lieberman, 25, who is the security coordinator of kibbutz Nir Am, which is located a stones throw from the Gaza Strip lead a group of residents to kill more than two dozen advancing terrorists.

Lieberman, who has been part of the security detail in the region since December 2022, heard explosions erupting early Saturday when Hamas launched the unprecedented and deadly attack on Israel, according to Walla News.

She quickly realized that the sounds were different to those she’s heard during the usual rocket attacks on the kibbutz and rushed to open the armory and distribute guns among the 12-member security team.

She placed her squad of kibbutzniks in strategic positions across the settlement, set up ambushes, and turned the tables on the incoming forces.

The 25-year-old killed five terrorists herself, while the others claimed the lives of 20 more over a four hour period.

Nir Am was turned into an impenetrable fortress, while nearby kibbutzim’s suffered heavier losses Walla News reported.

‘It was amazing, my husband was part of the standby unit that worked to prevent more casualties,’ Ilit Paz told Israel Hayom.

‘They heard the shots and made contact on their own with other members of the standby unit and with Inbal — and they understood that they were told to be on standby.

‘But Inbal made a decision not to wait and be jumped operationally. In fact, the fact that they did it early prevented dozens of casualties.’

The Maariv Daily reported that a social media post also lauded the heroism of Lieberman saying she deserves the Israel Prize.

‘When it’s all over, this woman will receive the Israel Prize,’ it read.

‘The story of her heroism is a story that will go down in Israeli lore for generations.

‘Inbal is the reason there is one kibbutz in the entire surrounding area that remains unharmed — Nir Am.’

Nir Am is among the few communities that Hamas terrorists attempted to enter but were repelled.

In Ein Habsor, a moshav that is also near the Gaza Strip, a handful of local defenders staved off a larger number of armed terrorists, one resident of the moshav, Noam Gotliv, told the Times of Israel.

‘What happened to us was part alertness, part miracle,’ Gotliv said, regarding the events at Ein Habsor.

Israel on Tuesday announced the completion of an enhanced security barrier around the Gaza Strip designed to prevent militants from sneaking into the country.

The 40-mile barrier includes radar systems, maritime sensors and a network of underground sensors to detect militant tunnels.

Existing fencing was replaced with a 6.5-yard high ‘smart fence’ with sensors and cameras.

Israel has fought four wars with Hamas since the Islamic militant group seized power in Gaza nearly 15 years ago, most recently in May.

During a 2014 war, Palestinian militants tunneled into Israel and clashed with Israeli troops.

Defense Minister Benny Gantz announced the completion of the barrier after more than three years of construction, saying it places an ‘iron wall’ between Hamas and residents of southern Israel.

During May’s fighting, Hamas used a sophisticated tunnel system within Gaza but did not infiltrate fighters into Israel.

The group fired more than 4,000 rockets at Israel in 11 days, with large volleys that occasionally overwhelmed Israel’s sophisticated missile defenses.

Israel carried out hundreds of airstrikes during the conflict and brought down several multistory buildings.

The war killed over 250 people in Gaza, including at least 129 civilians, according to the U.N., while 13 people died on the Israeli side.

Since Hamas seized power, Israel and Egypt have imposed a crippling blockade on Gaza that has severely restricted travel for the territory’s 2 million Palestinian residents and strangled the economy.

Israel says the closures are needed to prevent Hamas from expanding its military capabilities, while the Palestinians and rights groups view it as a form of collective punishment.

In 2018 and 2019, Hamas organized violent mass protests along the frontier in order to pressure Israel to ease the blockade.

More than 200 Palestinians were killed and thousands were wounded. An Israeli soldier was killed by a Palestinian sniper.

Rights groups recently accused Israel of failing to hold its forces accountable for the deaths and serious injuries.

Israel says its forces prevented the mass infiltration of Hamas operatives. It says allegations of wrongdoing were fully investigated and soldiers were held to account.
