In a dramatic incident outside Blue Grass Airport, Trooper Jude Remilien was shot in the leg during a routine traffic stop. This shocking event unfolded in July 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky.

On Thursday, four courageous Kentuckians were celebrated for their brave intervention that saved Trooper Remilien’s life. Among those honored were Jimmy Alexander, Jessica Alexander, Taylor Hall, and Officer Adam Arnold. Their quick thinking and decisive actions earned them the prestigious Citation of Meritorious Achievement.

Dash camera footage captured the moment Trooper Remilien was attempting a traffic stop when the situation took a violent turn. On July 13, 2025, the trooper was shot, and the suspected assailant, 47-year-old Guy House, seized the vehicle’s front seat and fled the scene. The footage also revealed that another individual exited the truck but was later confirmed by Kentucky State Police as not being directly involved in the shooting.

KSP Trooper Jude Remilien was shot in the leg outside the Blue Grass Airport while attempting to conduct a traffic stop on July 13, 2025, according to dash camera footage.

The suspected shooter, 47-year-old Guy House, got in the front seat and drove away after another person got out of the truck, dash camera footage shows. KSP confirmed the person who got out of the truck was not directly involved in the shooting.

Jimmy, Jessica and Hall saw the injured trooper out in a field and rushed over to help despite getting ready to leave for a trip themselves, according to KSP. Jimmy put a belt around Remilien’s leg as a tourniquet while Jessica and Hall, nurses by trade, applied pressure.

Remilien’s body camera footage showed both Jessica and Hall giving him water, checking his pulse, and repeatedly asking questions to keep him from passing out.

The body camera footage then showed Arnold, an officer with the Blue Grass Airport Police Department, radio for additional resources and apply a proper tourniquet to Remilien.

Once the Lexington Fire Department arrived and transported Remilien to the hospital, the Kentucky State Police said the Alexanders and Hall went on their vacation.

“Jimmy, Jessica, Taylor and Adam did what we hoped that we would all do in a life threatening emergency,” Gov. Andy Beshear said. “They stepped up, they stepped in, and they helped save a life.”

The Citation of Meritorious Achievement is the highest honor the Kentucky State Police can award to a civilian or non-KSP employee.

During the ceremony, Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman and others reminded the crowd what happened after the shooting. KSP says the suspect, House, went on to steal a different car in Lexington, then drove to Richmond Road Baptist Church.

That’s when police said House had fired his weapon at individuals on the church’s property. Lexington Police said two women and two men were shot. The two women, 72-year-old Beverly Gumm and 32-year-old Christina Combs, died at the scene.

During a stand-off, police say three Lexington officers fired shots that hit 47-year-old Guy House, killing him.
