Authorities in Clay County have taken Serpil Adams into custody, charging her with attempted second-degree murder for allegedly assaulting her daughter.
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A grandmother from Clay County faces serious charges after being accused of attempting to kill her daughter, as reported by the sheriff’s office.
Serpil Adams, aged 62, is facing a charge of second-degree murder. According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, she allegedly forced her way into her daughter’s residence in Oakleaf Plantation on Monday, Nov. 17, and launched a violent attack.
Details from a news release issued on Wednesday reveal that the daughter was at her Reese Avenue home around 3 p.m. with her two children when Adams allegedly entered through an unlocked door and attacked her with a serrated utility knife.
The situation took a dramatic turn when the victim’s 8-year-old daughter intervened, reportedly using a kitchen knife to stab Adams in the upper arm to defend her mother, as stated by the CCSO. Adams then fled, but was subsequently apprehended by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at a friend’s residence.
Neither the victim nor children were injured during the attack, CCSO says.
Adams is currently being held on a $500,003 bond.
