PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — Over the weekend, Northern California faced intense rainfall and severe flooding, prompting numerous rescues and evacuations across the region.
In a dramatic rescue operation in Placer County, emergency responders carefully navigated a baby in a carrier over a turbulent river, using a ladder for the delicate maneuver.
The South Yuba River, raging with floodwaters, engulfed a residence where the Truckee Fire Protection District successfully rescued nine individuals.
As of Monday morning, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office has maintained an evacuation warning for the areas along the South Yuba River, stretching between Donner Pass Road and Cisco Road.
Meanwhile, Humboldt County is also grappling with the storm’s effects, with the sheriff’s office releasing photos of goats marooned on someone’s porch.
This is near the Freshwater area – near Arcata, where high water forced several evacuations.
Crews arrived in jet skis to assist residents.
In Redding, one person died after major flooding.
Water took over streets and entire neighborhoods.
Several people had to be rescued, and Interstate 5 was also flooded, impacting holiday drivers.

In Mendocino County, Willits received more than 6 inches of rain in 48 hours, flooding parks in the area.
With more rain in the forecast, rescue crews are prepared and people are reminded not to ever drive through standing water.
