In a tragic turn of events, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with second-degree murder following the death of his mother. The incident unfolded over the weekend and has left the local community in shock.
Authorities revealed that Jacqueline Jones-Garrison, aged 62, was discovered deceased under suspicious circumstances on Friday, January 30. The police responded to a call regarding a battery at a residence located on Bleinheim Place in the Hidden Hills neighborhood around 8:05 p.m. that evening.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered 31-year-old Avery Garrison, who informed them that his mother required medical attention. However, upon entering the home, they found Jacqueline Jones-Garrison unresponsive in a bedroom. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Signs of a struggle were evident in the room, and it was later determined that she had been strangled.
Avery Garrison was swiftly identified as a suspect in the case and taken into custody the following morning. As of Monday, he remains held without bond in the Duval County jail, facing charges of second-degree murder. The investigation continues as the community grapples with this heartbreaking incident.
