Cambodia and Thailand have officially extended a ceasefire agreement, initially facilitated by U.S. President Donald Trump during the summer, aimed at resolving their ongoing border conflict.
President Trump played a crucial role by threatening to impose higher tariffs on both nations, effectively pressuring them to put an end to the hostilities. The conflict had previously resulted in the loss of dozens of lives and forced hundreds of thousands to flee their homes.
During the annual Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit, the president witnessed the signing of the enhanced ceasefire by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

The terms of the agreement stipulate that Thailand must release 18 Cambodian soldiers currently detained, and both countries are to commence the withdrawal of heavy weaponry from their shared border.
The agreement requires Thailand to release 18 Cambodian soldiers held prisoner and for both countries to begin removing heavy weapons from the border.
