In a significant military maneuver that has captured global attention, U.S. airstrikes have decisively destroyed military targets on Iran’s Kharg Island, a pivotal location for the country’s oil exports. President Trump confirmed the operation’s success on Friday, emphasizing the scale and precision of the attack in the Persian Gulf.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump declared, “At my direction, the United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East, completely destroying every military target on Kharg Island, Iran’s strategic asset.” Situated roughly 16 miles from Iran’s coastline, Kharg Island is crucial, handling 90% of the nation’s crude oil exports, despite being only a third the size of Manhattan.
While the island’s oil facilities remained untouched during this strike, Trump hinted at the possibility of future actions targeting these infrastructures. The President mentioned that such measures would depend on Iran’s cooperation in allowing maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz. “Our weapons are unparalleled in power and sophistication,” Trump explained, “Yet, out of respect and strategic restraint, I have decided against targeting the oil infrastructure for now.”

Trump said the island’s oil infrastructure was not targeted but may be hit in future strikes, if the Iranian regime doesn’t allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
“Our Weapons are the most powerful and sophisticated that the World has ever known but, for reasons of decency, I have chosen NOT to wipe out the Oil Infrastructure on the Island,” the president said.
“However, should Iran, or anyone else, do anything to interfere with the Free and Safe Passage of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision,” Trump warned.
