How Dylan Larkin’s Trade Request Could Shift the Rangers’ Strategy and Impact Vincent Trocheck

The status of Vincent Trocheck as the most sought-after center in the NHL has shifted following Dylan Larkin’s surprising trade request from the Detroit Red Wings.

Renowned sports journalist Elliotte Friedman from Sportsnet was the first to disclose Larkin’s desire to leave Detroit. While the news undoubtedly impacted Red Wings fans, it wasn’t entirely unexpected for those familiar with general manager Steve Yzerman’s strategies.

Envisioning the Red Wings without Larkin is challenging. Drafted 15th overall in 2014, the Michigan native quickly rose through the ranks and was appointed team captain at just 24 years old.

Larkin’s future remains firmly in his hands, thanks to a no-move clause that becomes active for the 2026-27 and subsequent seasons. According to the Detroit Free Press, Larkin has already submitted a list of preferred destinations to Yzerman, which includes the Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, and Florida Panthers.
