Hulu has officially stepped away from the project “Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale,” putting an end to hopes for the much-anticipated revival.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, the original star of the iconic ’90s series, shared the disappointing news that the revival of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” has been shelved. In a heartfelt Instagram video released on Saturday, Gellar expressed her sadness over Hulu’s decision not to proceed with “Buffy: New Sunnydale.”

“I’m truly saddened to bring you this news, but I wanted to make sure you heard it directly from me,” Gellar began. “Sadly, Hulu has chosen not to continue with ‘Buffy: New Sunnydale.'”

She went on to express her gratitude towards director Chloé Zhao, saying, “I want to thank Chloé Zhao because I never imagined stepping back into Buffy’s stylish yet affordable boots. Thanks to Chloé, I was reminded of my love for the character and what she means, not only to me but to all of you. This decision doesn’t change any of that.”
