The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was using a helicopter to search the area after the kayaker was reported missing around 5:30 p.m.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has reported a missing kayaker near Memorial Bridge Wednesday evening.

The missing kayaker has been identified by his father as 43-year-old Jeremiah Beck.

PCSO says they received multiple calls reporting a man who “may have” fallen out of a kayak around 5:30 p.m.

Crews were able to locate the kayak, but did not find Beck. They are still searching at this time.

PCSO has a helicopter assisting, and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is on site.

FWC released a statement Wednesday, saying they responded after a witness reported seeing a kayaker fall overboard, but did not see him resurface. The Northeast FWC dive team was also deployed, according to the statement.

The investigation is ongoing.
