The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the man’s wife gave the couple’s daughter car keys before the shooting and the husband retrieved them after the shooting.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man accused of shooting his wife at the couple’s condo on Jacksonville’s Southside Sunday afternoon is behind bars.

Emmanuel Alexander, 47, faces charges of second-degree attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and child neglect without great bodily harm in connection with the shooting that left his wife injured.

The incident happened at Sonoma Southside Condo Rentals, located at 7740 Southside Blvd.

Police said around 2:30 p.m., officers responded to the apartment complex regarding a woman who had been shot.

A woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital in what police described as “critical but stable condition.”

Police said the initial investigation found that the victim and her husband were involved in a domestic dispute and her husband fired multiple gunshots at the victim, striking her at least five times. Investigators said it’s unclear what the dispute was about.

Officers detained the suspect at the scene. Detectives canvassed the scene for surveillance video and spoke with witnesses. Investigators said this was an isolated incident.

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500, by email jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org or via CrimeStoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel was arrested and taken into custody at the Duval County jail six hours after the incident, according to the report. JSO redacted in the report how and when officers made contact with Emmanuel Alexander.
