'I'm going to kill you all'

Last month, a Texas high school principal was removed from his role after an internal investigation found him to be credible in making a threatening statement towards a colleague about killing them, according to the district.

Marshall Lee Myers, who was employed by the Natalia Independent School District, was fired after the district’s board of trustees unanimously agreed the educator violated school policy when he levied the perilous remark last year, the institution confirmed Monday.

“If anybody kills my son’s college record, I’m going to kill you all,” Myers allegedly told a district employee following a meeting on Sept. 26, 2024.

The threatened staffer reported the incident to the district, claiming their safety was in danger – with a second worker coming forward as a witness, the Natalia-based school said.

The now-former principal was immediately placed on paid administrative leave as the district launched an investigation, officials said, adding that the educator had received a similar punishment for an undisclosed incident in 2023.

“Following the investigation, on October 10, 2024, at a properly called board meeting, the Superintendent recommended to the Board of Trustees the termination of Dr. Myers’ employment,” the district said in a statement.

“At that meeting, the Board of Trustees voted in favor of the proposed termination.”

Myers requested a termination hearing before an Independent Hearing Examiner to challenge the board’s ruling in a decision that would see him terminated before his contract was set to expire, the district said.

The hearing was held Jan. 8 to 10, according to the district, with the examiner, appointed by the Texas Commissioner of Education, supporting the district’s evidence and outcome.

The board officially voted to oust Myers during a Jan. 31 meeting.

“Natalia ISD is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment for all employees and a positive learning environment for all students,” the district said.

“Threats of violence have no place in the workplace, and the District will take swift and decisive action to protect the safety and well-being of its staff and students.”
