An officer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Louisiana experienced a hand injury after being bitten by an undocumented immigrant who was resisting apprehension, as reported by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The incident, described as a “gross attack” by DHS, occurred in Tullos, a town located in central Louisiana, and involved an individual named Maximiliano Perez-Perez. Authorities shared a photo allegedly depicting the officer’s hand, visibly injured and bleeding due to the altercation.
According to Homeland Security, during the arrest, Perez-Perez attempted to escape by shoving the officers and used his teeth to bite into an ICE officer’s hand, causing the skin to break and bleed.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, “This criminal illegal alien faces assault charges after viciously biting a law enforcement officer in an effort to avoid capture. Our law enforcement personnel are confronting a dramatic rise in assaults, with an increase of 1,150%, alongside an astounding 8,000% surge in death threats.”

“This is the reality of what our ICE officers are facing every day as they go to work to simply do their job and enforce the law,” McLaughlin also said. “Many of these assaults, including biting and vehicle rammings, are happening as a direct result of sanctuary politicians encouraging illegal aliens to evade arrest.”Â
DHS said Perez-Perez entered the United States at an unknown date and time and was not inspected or paroled by an immigration officer.

News of the arrest came on the same day ICE released an image showing a suspect accused of threatening federal agents being taken into custody by an officer from Homeland Security Investigations.Â
The agency said, “Threatening to assault, murder or interfere with a federal agent is a FELONY.”
