LOS ANGELES — In an exciting collaboration, Disney+ and Hulu are joining forces with iHeartMedia to transform six well-loved podcasts into vibrant video shows, kicking off with “Hey Jonas!” on August 14.
Over the coming months, subscribers in the U.S. will be treated to weekly video episodes from this appealing lineup. “Pod Meets World” makes its way to Disney+ on August 24, while Hulu will stream “Desperately Devoted,” “Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald,” “StraightioLab,” and “Thanks Dad with Ego Nwodim.”
“Fans crave more of the stories and stars they cherish, and podcasts are becoming a highly popular medium to fulfill that desire,” expressed Lauren Tempest, Head of Content Planning & Partnerships at The Walt Disney Company. “These iHeartMedia-led video podcasts offer a deeper connection to fans’ beloved worlds and creators, making Disney+ and Hulu the perfect places to enhance their streaming adventures.”
Bob Pittman, chairman and CEO of iHeartMedia, noted, “As podcasting evolves, audiences are seeking diverse ways to engage with their favorite shows and personalities,” he remarked. “With Disney+ and Hulu as powerful streaming platforms that cater to passionate fan bases, this partnership amplifies the reach of these cherished iHeartPodcasts. Whether it’s iconic rewatch series, beloved discussions, or unique storytelling, this venture offers current fans and new spectators a streamlined path to engaging with some of podcasting’s most captivating voices through video.”
Marking the debut, “Hey Jonas!” will simultaneously launch on Disney+ and Hulu on August 14 with a special episode centered around “Camp Rock,” setting the stage for “Camp Rock 3” on Disney+. That same weekend, the Jonas brothers will enliven the experience with live episodes from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
“Pod Meets World” arrives on Disney+ on Aug. 24. Co-hosts Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong bring their 30-year friendship to the screen with 1990s memories, side quests, and guests.
“Desperately Devoted” comes to Hulu with video for the first time on Nov. 2, letting fans dive deeper into “Desperate Housewives” with hosts Teri Hatcher, on-screen daughter Andrea Bowen, and real-life daughter Emerson Tenney.
Fans of “Scrubs” can also revisit each episode of the hit revival show alongside co-stars and friends Zach Braff and Donald Faison with “Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald,” streaming on Hulu beginning in the fall.
Rounding out the Hulu lineup this fall are “StraightioLab,” where comedians George Civeris and Sam Taggart unpack straight culture with guests, and “Thanks Dad with Ego Nwodim,” featuring conversations about daddy issues and the moments that shaped her guests’ lives.
This expansion joins an existing lineup of podcasts on Disney+ and Hulu, including licensed titles like “Handsome” and “We’re Here to Help,” rewatch podcasts like “The Mess Around with Hannah and Lamorne,” and companion podcasts for hits like “Paradise,” “American Idol,” and “Dancing with the Stars.” Fans can find the full list of streaming podcasts in the Podcasts Collection on Disney+ and the Podcasts Hub on Hulu.
