Alan Barinholtz, the father of Ike Barinholtz, gained recognition later in life for his role as Judge Alan Rosen in the 2023 series “Jury Duty” on Prime Video. Subsequently, he was also featured in Netflix’s “Running Point,” where he portrayed the family lawyer and shared a kiss with the lead actress Kate Hudson.

On this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Ike told host Drew Barrymore how his father’s kiss with Hudson came to be.

Regarding his father’s role, Ike Barinholtz shared that they wanted his character to be affectionate, portraying an elderly man who often holds hands and bestows kisses on the forehead. During filming, Kate Hudson proposed that on the next take, Alan should kiss her on the lips for comedic effect, which Ike found amusing.

Initially hesitant, Alan expressed concerns about kissing someone he didn’t know and assumed Kate wouldn’t be comfortable with it. When Ike informed him that it was actually Kate’s suggestion, Alan agreed to go along with the playful idea, showcasing his willingness to embrace light-hearted moments on set.

Alan did end up smooching Hudson — and according to his son, it’s “all he talks about” now.

“We’ll be at a restaurant and the waiter will be like, ‘Have you decided?’ And he’ll be like, ‘Yeah, I’ll have the greek salad. I kissed Kate Hudson,’” Ike said. “So he’s living his best life.”

Aside from Jury Duty and Running Point, Alan — a practicing attorney IRL — has also appeared in the AppleTV+ series Physical and the NBC mockumentary sitcom St. Denis Medical. He and Ike also became the first father-son duo to win Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in an August 2024 episode of the game show. They donated their $1 million prize to the ASL program at Los Encinos School.
