Have mercy!
Rob Lowe, an actor nominated for an Emmy, recently confronted a staff member from Hollywood Beverly Hills Tours who mistakenly identified him by the wrong name, confusing him with the famous sitcom star John Stamos.
“This is John Stamos,” the guide said as the bus rolled by, according to a video posted on the actor’s Instagram page.
While casually strolling through the streets of Beverly Hills close to Rodeo Drive, the actor from “St. Elmo’s Fire” was surprised when the tour guide, in an incident recorded on video, mixed up his identity.
“What the f–k,” Lowe mouthed to a camera filming him before walking up to the orange and pink truck filled with film fanatics.
“Okay guys, am I John Stamos?” Lowe asked the ticket holders on the bus.
“No!” the crowd responded, giggling as others shouted “Rob” and “Rob Lowe!”
‘You gotta get better at your job,” Lowe told the staffer.
The guide defended his unique approach to his touring gig.
“It’s usually about having fun, you know; I didn’t expect to run into people,” the guide responded.
When the “9-1-1: Lone Star” performer realized it was seemingly a bit, he backed off and said, “I see.”
Then he jokingly turned to the passengers on the bus and said, “Don’t listen to him.”
The “Wayne’s World” star laughed and walked away as the escort thanked him for his “cool energy.”
Lowe posted the bizarre interaction for his 2.2 million Instagram followers and tagged his son with the caption, “@johnnylowe am I being Punk’d?”
“The people have spoken,” his son, John, quipped in the comment section.
“I love you John Stamos!” actress Kimberly Williams Paisley quipped.
“He needs to be fired immediately,” performer Holly Robinson Peete joked.
“Some of these other tour companies need to get it together! We would never!” Hollywood Bus Tours added.
It wasn’t the first time that “The Outsiders” star was compared to Stamos.
To commemorate his 60th birthday, Lowe’s son, John, shared a family picture where Stamos’ face was cleverly superimposed over his father’s, humorously requesting well wishes for his dad with a heartfelt caption.
Lowe joked under the post, “To say I’m surprised would be a lie.”
In 2023, Stamos made a special appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” where Rob and John were guests, and he reacted to jokes about him being John’s actual father.
“I’m tired of explaining that ‘no, I’m not really his dad, I’m a better-looking version of his dad,’ you know,” Stamos joked.
