It has been exactly four weeks since the Knicks parted ways with Tom Thibodeau. Despite the time that has passed, the Knicks are taking their time in finding his replacement. Many fans are already wondering if Mike Brown would be an upgrade.
During this period, Leon Rose has addressed one of the issues that reportedly led to Thibodeau’s downfall. He has bolstered the team’s bench and expanded the player rotation. This development is a clear example of irony.
A key factor that could have motivated Thibodeau to play his bench players more was having a solid group of nine players he could rely on. This would allow him to rest his starters without worrying about losing leads. For a big part of last season, he only had six reliable players.
He didn’t have what Brown — or whoever — will have.
