MINNEAPOLIS — On Wednesday evening, the family of Renee Good received the results of an independent autopsy, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding her tragic death.

Two weeks have passed since Good was fatally shot by a federal immigration agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In response to this heartbreaking incident, Good’s family engaged the services of the Chicago-based law firm Romanucci & Blandin to conduct an independent examination of the facts.

The autopsy revealed three distinct gunshot wounds on Good’s body. The first was located on her left forearm, another pierced through her right breast, and a third, more lethal shot, struck her in the left side of the head near the temple, exiting on the opposite side.

The details uncovered by this independent autopsy align with the initial observations made by first responders who were present at the scene.

The findings of the autospy were consistent with what first responders reported on the scene.

The federal government has maintained that Good posed a threat to the agent that shot her. Good’s family and witnesses have repeatedly denied that claim.

Meanwhile, federal prosecutors served grand jury subpoenas Tuesday to Minnesota officials as part of an investigation into whether they obstructed or impeded law enforcement during a sweeping immigration operation in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, a person familiar with the matter said.

The subpoenas, which seek records, were sent to the offices of Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her and officials in Ramsey and Hennepin counties, the person said.

The person was not authorized to publicly discuss an ongoing investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The subpoenas are related to an investigation into whether Minnesota officials obstructed federal immigration enforcement through public statements they made, two people familiar with the matter said Friday. They said then that it was focused on the potential violation of a conspiracy statute.
