CHICAGO (WLS) — Monday night on “American Idol” was all about the ’90s, but the nostalgic theme also marked an intense moment as the competition narrowed from 14 contestants to just 11.

Among those advancing was Kyndal Inskeep, an Indiana native who has been closely followed by ABC7. In an interview with Hosea Sanders, Inskeep expressed her determination to make it to the show’s finale.

“I’m pushing for excellence,” Inskeep shared. “I hope to keep improving week after week.”

Inskeep’s most recent performance was particularly meaningful to her, and she opened up about the reasons behind its significance.

“I’m thrilled to be part of ‘American Idol,’ especially since they’re encouraging contestants to express their faith so openly,” Inskeep said. “Being able to declare what we believe on national TV was incredible. The week was full of challenges—my sound check was a disaster, my dress tore, and I faced several wardrobe malfunctions. Just before going on stage, I prayed, ‘I can’t do this alone, Lord, I need Your help.’ And thankfully, Jesus took the wheel!”

Inskeep also talked about being from Indiana and going on the show.

“I’m proud to be from Indiana, I am,” Inskeep said.

And, ahead of Monday night’s show, she spoke to her fans, whose votes she needed!

“Make sure you go to the pin page at the beginning and end of the show, and type in my name 10 times individually,” Inskeep said.
