A Brazilian social media personality has shared that Disney staff cautioned her after receiving complaints from other guests regarding her “inappropriate” attire.
Marina Smith, a 27-year-old fashion and lifestyle influencer from Sao Paulo, Brazil, visited Walt Disney World in Orlando on March 16. She intended to experience the attractions and create content for her social media presence.
With over 9,000 followers on Instagram, Marina chose an outfit she described as “short and form-fitting” for her day at the park, consisting of a white tie-front blouse and blue denim jeans.
Initially, she noticed fellow visitors glancing her way and whispering among themselves before any official intervention occurred.
Eventually, a park staff member reportedly approached Marina, informing her that some guests had raised concerns about her attire, suggesting it might not be suitable for the park’s family-friendly setting.
Marina revealed that she was rather taken aback by the striking interaction, as she considered the outfit to be normal and rather modest in other settings.Â
‘It’s something I would normally wear on trips or in other places. I didn’t think it would cause this kind of reaction there,’ she said.
‘What caught my attention the most was realising that people preferred to complain instead of speaking directly to me.’
Disney’s official dress code policy, which applies to all guests ages 14 and older, prohibits clothing that ‘exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment.’Â

Marina said that she soon began to notice other visitors looking at her and making comments amongst themselves. A park employee then allegedly approached her to inform her that some visitors had complained about her outfit and that it could be considered inappropriateÂ

According to Marina, despite the warning by staff members, she was able to continue her visit to the park afterwards without any further interaction with staff members.
Yet while there was ‘no argument’ between her and fellow park-goers, the situation still ‘stood out to me because of how people reacted’, she said.Â
She later took to Instagram to post a picture of her dressed in the controversial outfit, posing in front of Disney’s castle with the caption: ‘Not ever princess wants to be saved… some write their own story’. Â
Marina added she was always careful about her outfits to match the occasion and launched a personal shopping service for single men, charging up to £230 per hour to help them prepare for dates and social occasions.
In June, Disney World ignited a heated debate on social media after a customer claimed she was denied access to a Disney World ride due to her ‘inappropriate’ gym attire.
Nicole Arena, a personal trainer from the U.S., took to TikTok earlier this month to document her experience during a visit to Orlando’s Walt Disney World Epcot park with her husband.
In a series of videos posted to her account @arenalifts, Arena said she was ‘dress-coded’ for wearing a white Nike sports bra and black leggings – an outfit she described as typical gym wear.
Uploading a selfie with her partner taken inside the park, she wrote in overlay text: ‘Was so happy to be here that I didn’t realize I was “improperly dressed” and would be forced to buy a $45 [£33] tshirt or else I could not get on the ride I waited an hour for.’
In a follow-up clip, Arena showed off the outfit in question, which consisted of a fitted sports bra and high-waisted leggings, adding in a caption: ‘I really didn’t think anything of this tbh.’
The parkgoer explained in another video that she had ‘nothing showing’ other than her stomach and arms, and blasted viewers who suggested she had arrived at Disney World ‘naked’.
She added: ‘Anyone who goes to the gym knows it’s totally fine to walk around with a sports bra and leggings on. I just went to Disney, how I would go to the gym.’
The videos racked up hundreds of thousands of views and sparked a flurry of conflicting opinions in the comments.
