Iran Retaliates: Escalating Tensions in Gulf as Missiles Target Kuwait Following US Attacks

WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, Iran ramped up its offensive against U.S. allies in the Persian Gulf by launching new attacks on Kuwait. This escalation came just hours after American forces executed their 10th consecutive night of airstrikes on Iranian soil.

Air raid sirens blared across Kuwait as regional sources reported that Iranian missiles and drones targeted facilities linked to the United States, as well as vital infrastructure within the emirate. Kuwaiti officials have yet to disclose casualty numbers or provide a comprehensive assessment of the damage incurred.

In response to the attacks, the Kuwaiti Army issued a statement indicating that their air defenses were actively engaging the incoming threats. “The General Staff of the Army notes that if explosion sounds are heard, they are the result of the air defense systems intercepting the hostile attacks,” the statement detailed.

The army further advised residents to “adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the competent authorities,” emphasizing the importance of public compliance during such heightened threats.

This surge in hostilities follows recent announcements from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which confirmed a fresh series of strikes targeting Iranian assets. These military actions were in retaliation for the recent loss of four American service members in the region.

President Trump has vowed Iran will “pay many times over” for the killings of US troops, and directed the Pentagon to intensify operations.

Tuesday’s retaliation was not limited to Kuwait.

Iran also struck Bahrain and Jordan, while regional tensions mounted after renewed threats to commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and an announcement by Yemen’s Houthis of a planned naval blockade targeting Saudi Arabia.
