Iranian Diplomats Reportedly Arrive in Geneva for Indirect Nuclear Discussions with the US

On Thursday, a convoy thought to be transporting Iranian diplomats was spotted arriving at the Omani residence in Geneva, marking the start of indirect nuclear discussions with the United States.

A journalist from the Associated Press observed the convoy as it entered the residence. Earlier, another convoy, likely carrying American officials, was seen making its way to the location.

The United States and Iran have convened in Geneva to engage in nuclear negotiations, a dialogue considered crucial for diplomatic resolution. The urgency is underscored by the U.S. deploying a fleet of aircraft and warships to the Middle East in an effort to coax Tehran into an agreement.

President Donald Trump is keen on securing a pact to limit Iran’s nuclear activities, viewing this as a strategic moment given Iran’s domestic challenges, which include increasing dissent and widespread protests last month.

Iran meanwhile has maintained it wants to continue to enrich uranium even as its program sits in ruins following Trump ordering an attack in June on three of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear sites.
