BUFFALO — David Rittich might find himself receiving an unexpected request this Sunday, possibly from the NHL, for a contribution he can’t refuse.
“There were seventy-five cameras around the stadium,” Rittich remarked about Tage Thompson’s controversial goal during the Islanders’ 3-2 shootout defeat to Buffalo on Saturday. “Yet, not a single one captured the puck crossing the line. Only the referee seemed to see it go in.”
“I didn’t even react when they began celebrating,” he continued. “Without a clear replay showing the puck in the net, how can that be considered a legitimate goal?”
