In a strategic strike, Israeli forces have reportedly killed Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, according to Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz.

“In a precise and deadly operation, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) successfully targeted and eliminated Alireza Tangsiri, the IRGC Navy Commander, along with other senior naval leaders,” Katz stated, as translated from Hebrew. “Tangsiri was directly responsible for the mining and obstruction of the Strait of Hormuz, posing a significant threat to navigation. His elimination sends a powerful message.”

Katz underscored the operation’s significance, noting, “This serves as a stark warning to the senior officials of the Iranian IRGC, demonstrating our resolve to track and neutralize each one. I commend the IDF for executing this operation flawlessly.” He added that this development is also vital for the United States, highlighting the IDF’s role in reopening the Strait of Hormuz and reinforcing the strong alliance between U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as the cooperation between the two nations and their military forces.

Earlier, Alireza Tangsiri was seen attending an exhibition in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Friday, February 2, 2024, as reported by the Iranian Presidency Office via the Associated Press.

A senior Israeli official informed Fox News that the operation was carried out using intelligence shared by both American and Israeli agencies.

“The head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy, Alireza Tangsiri, who directly commanded the closure of the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints — was targeted in a strike overnight, along with his senior operational leadership, including intelligence and operations chiefs, at a covert naval command center,” the official noted. “This targeted strike was based on U.S. and Israeli intelligence and continues to demonstrate how deeply it is capable of penetrating.”

President Donald Trump launched the controversial war against Iran in conjunction with Israel nearly four weeks ago.

“The Iranian negotiators are very different and ‘strange.’ They are ‘begging’ us to make a deal, which they should be doing since they have been militarily obliterated, with zero chance of a comeback, and yet they publicly state that they are only ‘looking at our proposal.’ WRONG!!!” Trump declared in a Thursday morning Truth Social post.

“They better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won’t be pretty!” he warned.
