On a somber Tuesday afternoon, a tragic incident unfolded on Catoma Street, just south of Timuquana Road, where a man in his 30s was discovered with gunshot wounds. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has since launched an investigation into the fatal event.
According to the authorities, the grim discovery was made after a series of distress calls reporting gunfire drew officers to the 6200 block of Catoma Street, located north of Ringhaver Park, shortly before 4:30 p.m. Once on the scene, they found the victim on the roadside, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Sadly, the man succumbed to his injuries.
During a news briefing held on Tuesday night, a representative from the homicide unit confirmed that a person of interest had been taken into custody. Alongside this development, several witnesses were also detained for questioning to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting. However, an arrest has not yet been formally announced as the investigation continues.
