Bronquell Hutchinson and Isaac Rodriguez are now facing several felony charges following a string of armed robberies targeting food trucks and a restaurant in Jacksonville.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two local men have been arrested and accused of orchestrating a series of armed heists at food trucks and a dining establishment, culminating in a shooting incident.
Authorities have identified 26-year-old Bronquell Hutchinson and 21-year-old Isaac Rodriguez as the suspects charged with multiple felonies linked to four distinct incidents that occurred in Jacksonville between May 19 and May 21.
Among these crimes was a robbery at the Tipicos Antojitos Hondureños food truck located on University Boulevard West.
According to Edwin Osorto, the event transpired late on the night of May 21, when two masked individuals approached his family-operated food truck just as he was wrapping up for the evening.
“When I was about to close the door they came from the back and they pointed the gun on me. so they asked me for the money, but I didn’t give the money to them ’cause I told them my auntie take the money and the stuff, but they was looking for the money and just take the phone,” Osorto said.
Surveillance video obtained by First Coast News shows two masked suspects walking up to the business before the robbery.
According to the arrest report, one of the suspects stood close to Osorto, acting as a lookout while the other robbed him.
“They was just asking for the money, but they didn’t find nothing so they took the phone and they asked me for the password,” Osorto said.
After the robbery, Osorto said he called his brother.
“I told him that was robbing the food truck, so my brother chased them and they were shooting at my brother,” Osorto said.
The owner says he then spotted the suspect’s SUV and followed it into a parking lot, where he says he was shot at before the suspects drove away.
First Coast News obtained video showing bullet holes in the owner’s car. According to police, the owner reported the vehicle’s windshield and door were hit by multiple bullets. He and a passenger suffered minor injuries.
JSO says officers later located the suspects’ SUV and took them into custody.
Hutchinson and Rodriguez were connected to robberies two days earlier at a Chinese restaurant on Fort Caroline Road and a taco truck on Powers Avenue.
According to an arrest report, Hutchinson implicated Rodriguez as the shooter from the May 21 incident and said he had helped plan the robberies. Both Hutchinson and Rodriguez face multiple charges of armed robbery and attempted murder.
Osorto said he is grateful to be alive.
“Happy and grateful ’cause Jesus give me another opportunity,” Osorto said.
