JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Thursday night, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office disclosed the arrest of 54-year-old corrections officer Jose Guerra. Guerra, a long-time member of the agency, was taken into custody following an incident involving alleged domestic violence.

According to the report, Guerra was apprehended by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office on January 14 after an altercation with a woman escalated into violence.

The arrest report details that authorities were alerted by a 911 call, during which the victim could be heard pleading for help.

When deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene, the victim reported that Guerra had choked and assaulted her amid a dispute. Officers documented minor injuries, including scratches and a noticeable red mark on the victim’s chest.

The victim stated that Guerra had been violent against her before.

Guerra was detained by deputies and charged with a misdemeanor count of battery and a felony charge of witness tampering.

JSO says Guerra has been suspended without pay pending termination.

This is the third arrest of a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office employee so far in 2026.
