JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A new initiative was announced by the City of Jacksonville Thursday that aims to crack down on human trafficking in the city’s sports and entertainment district. 

The city has partnered with the Icemen, Jaguars, Jumbo Shrimp, Sharks and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to prevent human trafficking and help victims. 

New signs will be posted throughout the sports and entertainment district to let people know the signs of human trafficking to look out for. It will also provide resources available for victims of human trafficking. 

Vice President of Business Development for the Icemen, Ken Vezina, says he is proud of the work they are doing. 

“Us getting involved in it draws a clear line in the sand that exploitation has no place in our city, in our community, and it certainly has no place in our sports and entertainment venue,” Vezina said.
