The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a man killed in Avondale on Nov. 18, 2023 and a woman found dead in Clay County the next day were killed by the same person.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man is accused of killing a man and woman in late 2023, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Malik Johnson, 32, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Task Force Friday, JSO said.

Donte’ris Woods, 21, was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 3800 block of St. Johns Avenue around 8:45 p.m. Nov. 18, 2023. JSO said a citizen called 911 after hearing gunshots.

The next day around noon, Kyliah James, 21, was found dead in Clay County by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators later determined that James had been killed in Jacksonville. James was Woods’ girlfriend, police said.

Johnson was booked into the pretrial detention facility Friday afternoon on two murder charges. He is also charged with arson.
