A Duval County school police officer faces battery-related charges after his arrest by JSO.
DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — A Duval County Public Schools police officer was arrested Sunday by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on various battery-related charges, the district announced Tuesday.
DCPS said Kevens Louis, who began working for the district in September of 2021, is facing charges of battery causing bodily harm, which JSO classified as a “dating violence” charge, false imprisonment and felony domestic battery by strangulation.
Louis was not assigned to a particular school, DCPS said, but has been stripped of all his law enforcement authority and his employment status with the district will be addressed following his release from jail.
“While the presumption of innocence applies, I am incredibly disappointed by these allegations as they fall short of the high standards required of our school police officers,” said Duval School Police Chief Jackson Short.
First Coast News has requested the arrest report and mugshot from JSO.
