JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) officer finds himself in hot water after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a man at a business in Clay County over the weekend.
In the early hours of the morning, deputies from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a business following reports of an assault. On arrival, they encountered the victim on the bar’s front patio. The victim claimed he was attempting to “de-escalate” a confrontation when he was physically attacked by the suspect.
Authorities identified the suspect as 49-year-old John H. Tiedeman during a traffic stop. After conducting an interview, he was arrested and taken to the Clay County Jail. Tiedeman now faces charges of battery on a person aged 65 or older.
Tiedeman, a seasoned officer with 27 years of service at JSO, was working as a patrol officer in District 2. Following his arrest, he has been reassigned to the Tele-Serv Unit while the criminal investigation is ongoing.
This marks the fourth arrest of a JSO employee in 2026.
