A Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department spokesperson reported that an adult sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported from the scene on Monday afternoon.

In Jacksonville, Florida, the Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred near the Pinecrest subdivision within the Normandy Estates area.

At approximately 5 p.m., the agency took to social media to inform the public that the entrance to the neighborhood at Guardian Drive, just off Normandy Boulevard, was currently blocked due to ongoing police activity. Residents and commuters were advised to steer clear of the vicinity temporarily.

By 6 p.m., the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office provided an update indicating that a significant traffic jam had developed on Normandy Boulevard as a result of the closure at Guardian Drive. To alleviate the congestion, authorities suggested that motorists consider parking at a nearby grocery store until the situation is resolved.

While the exact timing for the road’s full reopening remains uncertain, the JSO has assured residents of the area that they are being allowed to pass through intermittently as the investigation continues.

JSO could not immediately provide details of the incident, saying only that it was an active situation.

A spokesperson for the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department said that a person was transported from the area some time before 5 p.m. with life-threatening injuries.

This is a developing story. A First Coast News crew is on the scene working to learn more.
