The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that two burglary suspects were shot and detained after exchanging gunfire with victims.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two people were shot early Friday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, while trying to burglarize a vehicle.

In a briefing Friday afternoon, a JSO official said its officers responded to Ardencroft Drive in Sandalwood just after 2:30 a.m. to find two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

JSO said an initial investigation revealed that the pair, mid-crime, were interrupted by two victims and began shooting. The victims, returning fire, shot both suspects.

The people involved were detained, according to the sheriff’s office, and the two people shot were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their injuries were non-life-threatening.

The sheriff’s office believes there is no further danger to the community and anyone with information regarding the incident should reach out.
