On Friday afternoon, Jacksonville officials revealed that the Blue Angels and the Viper Demo Team will be absent from this year’s air show, a direct consequence of the federal government shutdown.
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — The 2025 Sea & Sky Air Show will proceed, missing its star attractions.
Just a day before the event, the city of Jacksonville confirmed the cancellation of performances by the Blue Angels and the Viper Demo Team due to the “ongoing federal government shutdown.”
The Blue Angels are a renowned squadron from the U.S. Navy, while the Viper Demo Team is associated with the U.S. Air Force.
Speculation had been mounting about their potential withdrawal as the government shutdown stretches into its fourth week.
The city announced a new, civilian performer group in their stead: The Chuters, a veteran-owned and operated parachute team.
“The Sea & Sky Air Show will bring families, neighbors, and visitors together to experience an unforgettable display of skill and teamwork,” said Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan. “We have an incredible show of award-winning civilian performers lined up, and we encourage everyone to come enjoy the 2025 Sea & Sky Air Show.”
