A Jacksonville woman, Jennifer Cruz, was apprehended on Tuesday and is now facing multiple charges, including assault on law enforcement officers and resisting arrest with violence.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jennifer Cruz’s legal troubles have intensified after she allegedly became aggressive towards Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during an encounter in Jacksonville. She now faces over a dozen charges linked to this incident.
Authorities placed Cruz in the Duval County jail on Tuesday, January 13, following her arrest.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier shared an image on social media platform X, depicting Cruz being subdued by ICE agents outside Mi Pueblo, a popular Mexican grocery store and meat market located on Beach Boulevard.

“Jennifer chose to express her disagreement with immigration enforcement by committing several felonies, including getting out of her car and punching a Trooper in the face,” Uthmeier commented. “However, in contrast to Minnesota, such actions are not tolerated here. Not today, Jennifer,” he added.
Her charges include multiple counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting officers with violence and a count of threatening harm to officers, among others.
The arrest comes as confrontations between ICE agents and citizens appear to be increasing due to unrest over an increase in enforcement and the deadly shooting of Renee Good by an agent in Minneapolis.
First Coast News is working to get more information about the confrontation involving Cruz, as well as her arrest report.
She bonded out of jail on Wednesday.
