Jamie Lee Curtis Reflects on Close Bond With Rob Reiner’s Children

Jamie Lee Curtis has spoken about the deep connection she shares with Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner’s children, almost a year after the couple’s tragic deaths.

The 67-year-old actress, who recently paid tribute to her legendary mother Janet Leigh, discussed her support for Romy, 28, and Jake, 35, in an interview with Extra.

Reiner and Michele were found stabbed to death inside their Brentwood home on December 14, 2025. Their son Nick had been living in a guesthouse on the property.

Nick has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and remains in solitary confinement while awaiting trial.

“Of course, I mean, we are family. Something like this brings people so much closer,” Curtis told the outlet.

“Jake and I were sitting shoulder-to-shoulder doing an interview … and just feeling him there is emotional. Then, of course, hearing him talk about his parents and their fantastic relationship.”

Curtis said she has continued to stand by Romy and Jake as they grieve the loss of their parents.

“There hasn’t been a big public memorial yet, and so we’re all grieving,” she added.

Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Curtis for comment but has not received a response.

The Halloween actress had been close friends with Reiner and Michele for many years.

Curtis and Reiner both appeared on The Bear, where his performance later earned him a posthumous Creative Arts Emmy.

The two actors also played the parents of Zooey Deschanel’s character, Jess Day, on New Girl.

Curtis’ husband, Christopher Guest, worked with Reiner on several projects, including This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, A Few Good Men and Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.

Reiner and Michele were godparents to Curtis and Guest’s daughter Annie, and the couple married at Reiner’s home in 1984.

In September, Curtis honored her late friends Reiner and Michele during the 2026 Emmy Awards.

“Last week, Robby won an Emmy for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his beautiful work on The Bear,” she told the audience.

“He now holds the record, at 48 years, for the longest gap between acting Emmys. That record was previously held by his father, Carl Reiner, at 37 years.”

Curtis described Reiner as “generous and kind, and funny as hell and a friend to all.”

She continued: “And we all miss Rob and Michele and all those we lost this year.”

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Curtis reflected on the responsibility of representing her late friends at the awards ceremony.

She said she “felt a responsibility to represent everyone — strangers, fans, colleagues, friends, close friends and family — in that moment at the Emmys. I was fine and happy to do it.”

The Freaky Friday star acknowledged that the experience had been “a little tougher than I anticipated.”

“It was challenging enough to represent everyone and try to honor, in this case, particularly Rob’s passing, but I also have feelings of my own,” she said.

Curtis also remembered urging Reiner to accept his role on the acclaimed series The Bear.

“Rob called me and said, ‘I’ve been offered a part on [the show]. Should I do it?’ And I said, ‘Yes, Robbie, you should absolutely do it.’”

She added: “I didn’t know how that character was going to fit in or who he would be, because obviously I didn’t know any of that.”

Following the deaths of Reiner and Michele, Curtis and her husband Christopher Guest released a joint statement.

“[We are] numb and sad and shocked about the violent, tragic deaths of our dear friends Rob and Michele Singer Reiner, and our ONLY focus and care right now is for their children and immediate families. We will offer all support possible to help them.”

“There will be plenty of time later to discuss the creative lives we shared and the great political and social impact they both had on the entertainment industry, early childhood development, the fight for gay marriage and their global care for a world in crisis.”

Curtis and Guest concluded: “We have lost great friends. Please give us time to grieve.”

She will accept the award at the Cape & Gown Gala on November 8, hosted by the Children’s Institute, an organization led by Michele’s sister, Martine Singer.

“The whole thing is filled with such sadness and disbelief, and he loved them so much,” Curtis said of Jake in her interview with Extra.

“I want it to be joyful. I want it to be celebratory. I want it to be honoring. It’s not a memorial. It is a moving forward together, using their energy to inspire all of us.”
