Good Burger actor Jan Patrick “J.P.” Schwieterman died Feb. 28, the New York Post reports. He was 52.

He passed away at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri, as stated in his obituary. His brother, Chad Schwieterman, mentioned in a Facebook post on March 1 that the late actor had recently received a diagnosis of an aggressive stage 4 cancer. The specific type of cancer was not disclosed.

Chad requested support for their family during this challenging period, saying, “Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult time. Rest in peace, brother. We love you and miss you.”

Schwieterman was known for his role as the antagonist Kurt Bozwell in the 1997 Nickelodeon comedy, where he portrayed the owner of Mondo Burger, a competitor to Good Burger. Although he did not appear in the recent sequel, Good Burger 2, which saw Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell reprise their iconic roles as Dexter and Ed, the new movie, available for streaming on Paramount+ since November 2023, featured guest appearances from Mark Cuban and Pete Davidson.

Born in Bluffton, Indiana on Sept. 30, 1972, Schwieterman made his way to California after high school to pursue acting. Other credits of Schwieterman’s include McKenna, ER, Forever, NightMan, Felicity, and Undressed. Per IMDb, his most recent role was earned in the 2007 drama Along the Way.

Outside of acting, Schwieterman “loved to travel,” most recently taking a trip to Thailand, per his obituary. He also enjoyed photography and painting, in addition to martial arts and playing Dungeons and Dragons.

Other than his brother Chad, Schwieterman is survived by his mother, father, two sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
