Jaxson Dart got first taste of Giants' woeful culture of losing

NEW ORLEANS — The room was packed with players all too familiar with this scenario. Losing is second nature to these Giants. They do it so regularly, with such predictability, that even when a string of particularly awful events spells their doom, there’s little surprise at how disastrously things unfold.

But not for Jaxson Dart. This is new territory for him. The organization hopes he never becomes accustomed to what took place on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.

Many of his teammates don the Giants uniform week after week, spend hours battling on the field, and eventually shed their jerseys, unable to wash away yet another loss. But Jaxson Dart is different. In his NFL starting debut last week, the Giants actually won a game, against the previously undefeated Chargers. However, after hitting the road, they committed five turnovers in a row and fell hard, 26-14, to the Saints. The previously winless Saints, mind you. Trust the Giants to empower those unable to succeed on their own.

Dart was responsible for turnovers No. 2, 4 and 5 — it’s not easy to keep track of all of them — as the ups of last week were followed by the downs of this week. There is often a fall after a rookie rise, and this one was stark and cold and hard on the eyes.
