Model Jena Sims has learned how to balance her love of reading with motherhood.

“Reading has always been a significant part of my life, but now with an energetic 2-year-old, I have become more deliberate about when and what I read,” the “Happy Gilmore 2” actress shares with Page Six.

She adds that her best reading time normally occurs now during her son’s naps or while jetting off to a new destination.

In terms of selecting her next book, the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie of the Year mentions she relies on suggestions from friends and family, as well as occasionally revisiting some of her beloved favorites.

See below for Sims’ six must-read book recommendations.

"Good Material" by Dolly Alderton

“I found this book to be incredibly clever and relatable in terms of how we view ourselves within relationships. Dolly’s approach to writing from both male and female perspectives during a breakup was brilliant. The ending completely took me by surprise, but I adored it.”

"The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" by Taylor Jenkins Reid

“A story about love, ambition and fame all set behind the Golden Age of Hollywood, who would not like this book as it truly has everything. I am so excited they are turning it into a movie and can’t wait to see who they cast as Evelyn.”

"Romantic Comedy" by Curtis Sittenfeld

“This is the perfect beach read. I found this as a recommendation off Reese’s Book Club when I was looking for something light and fun and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed how the book took place in the male-dominated world of late-night comedy writing, think ‘SNL,’ but was told through the female’s perspective and what it would look like both internally and externally if she fell for one of the show’s guests. It truly has all the makings of a perfect romantic comedy between the two protagonists Sally and Noah and the awkwardness yet fun the ensues when crushing on someone.”

"Intermezzo" by Sally Rooney

“Full transparency, this was not initially on the top of my list as I had not read Sally’s other books, but my friends told me to read as I am fascinated by family dynamics. I thought this was such a heartbreaking yet beautiful story on how two brothers deal so differently with love, loss and navigating their own relationship. It’s long, but I recommend sticking through as the ending is very satisfying.”

"I'll Have What She's Having" by Chelsea Handler

“I typically read fiction, but I just love Chelsea Handler and think she is one of the best storytellers for her ability to be slightly outrageous, a little raw yet always empowering.”

Bridget Jones Series by Helen Fielding

“This is a bit of a throwback, but I just watched the final installment film ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy’ and it reminded me of how much I loved this series of books. Bridget Jones is truly one of the greatest literary characters who stays unapologetically herself throughout life’s greatest highs and lows.”
