Jennifer Hudson was moved to tears when her son, David Jr., made a surprise appearance on her talk show for a heartfelt Mother’s Day tribute.
The 16-year-old captivated the moment by presenting his mother with a cake and a bouquet of flowers, adding to the emotional atmosphere.
As she hugged her son, the host of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” proudly introduced him to the studio audience, saying, “This is my baby.”
Still overwhelmed with emotion, the 44-year-old “American Idol” star expressed her surprise, revealing that her producers had successfully orchestrated the touching moment.
David Jr. shared that the cake was baked using Hudson’s “mom’s special recipe,” and added, “I made it for Mother’s Day. I know it’s special to you.”
Hudson shared with viewers that her “mother always made this pound cake” — and David Jr. has been carrying on the “family tradition” for years.
“For Mother’s Day, birthdays, all special occasions, he always makes it for me,” she gushed. “Thank you, baby!”
Hudson shares her teen with ex-fiancé David Otunga.
The former couple started dating in 2007, with the WWE wrestler proposing to Hudson the following year after seven months together.
David Jr. was born in August 2009.
Hudson and Otunga called it quits in November 2017 and settled their custody agreement in 2019 after a contentious legal battle.
