Charlotte Jones, the daughter of Jerry Jones, who owns the Dallas Cowboys, has stirred up controversy among MAGA supporters following her defense of the decision to feature Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl LX halftime show performer.

The choice to have the Puerto Rican artist headline this season’s premier football event has ignited a heated debate. Many MAGA commentators are upset due to Bad Bunny’s outspoken criticism of Donald Trump, particularly regarding the former president’s immigration policies.

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has long been a vocal critic of Trump, which has frustrated many conservative fans. Additionally, there is contention over the fact that his music is predominantly performed in Spanish.

Amid the controversy, Jones has publicly supported the decision to have Ocasio take the stage during the highly anticipated event.

During an appearance on The Katie Miller Podcast, Jones expressed her support, stating, “I believe our Latina fan base is incredible. When considering the Super Bowl, you want the number one performer in the world to be present.”

‘We’re on a global stage and we can’t ever forget that. Our game goes out to everybody around the world and to get the premier entertainer to want to be a part of our game, I think is amazing. We have a mixed culture.

‘Our whole society is based on immigrants that came here and founded our country. I think we can celebrate that. I think the show’s going to be amazing’.

Jones continued: ‘I don’t think our game’s about politics. I don’t think people tune in to look at politics. We do everything we can to avoid politics.

‘I think in that moment people will be watching the game, they’ll be celebrating music and nobody will be thinking about what comments on the left side, what comments on the right side. This is about bringing people together.’

Her comments come shortly after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made an impassioned defense of the decision to choose Bad Bunny to perform.

‘He’s one of the leading and most popular in the world. That’s what we try to achieve,’ he said at the NFL’s league meetings in New York last week.

‘It’s an important stage for us, an important element to the entertainment value. It’s carefully thought through. I think it’s going to be an exciting and a united moment.’

‘I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you literally have millions of people who are watching.

‘But we’re confident it’s going to be a great show. He understands the platform that he’s on. The show will evolve from here. I’m not saying there won’t be additional talent but that’s always the way it works.’

His well-known disdain for Trump's immigration policies has irked conservatives most

His well-known disdain for Trump’s immigration policies has irked conservatives most

House Speaker Mike Johnson, for one, called for Grammy Award-winning country singer Lee Greenwood to perform his 1984 hit, ‘God Bless The USA,’ while other conservatives have named country legend George Strait as a good choice for Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara.

Some critics went so far as to launch a petition demanding Strait replace Bad Bunny, whom they criticized for his gender-bending on-stage antics.

‘The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt,’ read the petition.

‘Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football’s biggest stage.

‘Again, George Strait embodies unity, tradition, and the timeless American music that truly deserves the 2026 Super Bowl spotlight.’
