New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd finds himself in a critical yet stable condition following a shooting incident that occurred early Saturday morning in Midtown Manhattan. The 29-year-old athlete was reportedly shot in the abdomen during the early hours, specifically around 2 a.m., near West 38th Street and Seventh Avenue.
According to the New York Post, the violent altercation unfolded outside the Sei Less restaurant. The incident escalated from a dispute that tragically led to a gunman discharging two rounds. Law enforcement sources provided these details to the publication, emphasizing the serious nature of the events.
In the aftermath, Boyd was quickly transported to Bellevue Hospital. An NYPD spokesperson confirmed to ESPN’s Rich Cimini that Boyd’s condition remains critical but stable. As of now, the investigation is still active, and authorities have yet to make any arrests related to the shooting.
In response to the incident, a representative from the Jets organization issued a brief statement to ESPN, acknowledging the situation involving Boyd but refraining from further comments at this time.
A Jets spokesperson told ESPN, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”
Boyd is in his first season with the Jets after signing in free agency in March. Drafted by Minnesota in the seventh round in 2019, he has also played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans.
The Jets are off this weekend after playing Thursday night.
