Brian Albright, 51, is accused of stealing more than 100 items from the store over four months.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An engineer with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department was arrested Monday for petit theft following allegations he stole from a Winn-Dixie checkout line dozens of times, a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrest report states.
On July 29, the report states a complainant called police to report Brian Albright, 51, for stealing from three different Winn-Dixie grocery stores on 27 different occasions. The alleged thefts occurred between March 11, 2025 and July 18, 2025.
The report states that the complainant provided police video evidence and receipts for each incident.
Investigators reviewed the evidence and said Albright “purposefully and intentionally” did not scan some items while completing his purchases. The report states he stole more than 100 items from the store.
The report states that while investigators said the total value of the stolen items likely exceeds $750, an exact amount cannot be determined because the cost of some items, like steak and other packaged meats, is unknown. Investigators added that the items Albright stole could not be positively identified.
The report notes that on several occasions, Albright was on duty and in uniform while committing the thefts. On another occasion, the report states that Albright was accompanied by a minor who helped hand Albright items from the shopping cart while he purposefully did not scan items.
Albright was charged with one count of misdemeanor petit theft.
