Jimmy Kimmel compared each day of Donald Trump’s second term as president to a scene from The Celebrity Apprentice.
During his show on Monday, Kimmel mentioned the recent incident involving Trump’s associates Elon Musk and Marco Rubio engaging in a heated argument in the Oval Office in front of the President and his cabinet members.
The dispute reportedly started when Musk accused Rubio of not firing anyone in his department, to which Rubio responded by pointing out that Musk had compelled 1,500 individuals to take early retirement. Rubio provocatively asked Musk if he should rehire them so that Musk could dramatically dismiss them instead.
“The argument went on and on for what was described as an uncomfortable amount of time in front of Trump and the whole cabinet, they were yelling, calling each other liars in the oval office,” Kimmel said. “He really has turned this into The Celebrity President.”
Kimmel then joked, “Marco’s Meat Loaf, Elon’s an even weirder Gary Busey,” referring to two of the NBC series’ most famous contestants.
The late night host pointed out President Trump then went to TruthSocial to “spin” the story
“ELON AND MARCO HAVE A GREAT RELATIONSHIP. ANY STATEMENT OTHER THAN THAT IS FAKE NEWS!!! DJT,” the president wrote on social media. Kimmel teased that Trump’s use of the extra exclamation points “make it extra true.”
But the late night host joked the Oval Office blowup likely stems from something else.
“Trump has to give his pets a constant diet of liberals or they start feeding on each other,” he joked.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
