He traded the ball and chain for handcuffs.

Officials reported that a man from Florida decided to break into a stranger’s home and stayed there for multiple days to avoid facing his upset wife following an argument.

Polk County sheriff’s deputies were called to the home in Davenport by a neighbor who was tasked with watching over the residence while the homeowner was away — and who noticed a flurry of suspicious activity on June 9, according to a release from the department.

When cops walked in, the man, identified as Joe, 44, was cooking himself dinner and had just run a luxurious bath.

“We assume the bath temperature was not too hot, nor too cold, but juuuuust right,” Polk County officials joked, referencing the fable “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.”

Joe admitted to cops that he did not have permission to be there and that he had no idea who owned the home, the release said.

The 44-year-old justified the infraction by revealing that he had gotten into a fight with his wife four days earlier and broke into the random house to avoid returning home to face her wrath.

Despite the excuse, Joe was hit with felony unarmed burglary, misdemeanor petit theft, and domestic battery, the Miami Herald reported.
