Joe Rogan, the celebrated podcast host, recently launched into a spirited critique of what he perceives as the alarming levels of government “waste and fraud” prevalent in California. His remarks took aim at the politicians and commentators who insist that those with substantial incomes should simply “pay their fair share.”
In a candid discussion during the March 10 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan spoke with journalist Michael Shellenberger, focusing on the state’s expenditures on homelessness and broader accusations of governmental inefficiency.
“What frustrates me the most,” Rogan stated, “is hearing these progressive voices claiming they shouldn’t be expected to contribute fairly.” He continued to question, “With so much waste and fraud, why would anyone want to pay more?”
Rogan, known for his forthright opinions, argued that despite clear signs of financial mismanagement, politicians remain undeterred, persistently advocating for increased public spending.
The outspoken podcaster argued that politicians are ignoring mounting evidence of financial mismanagement while continuing to push for more public spending.
“You don’t think there should be some accountability to how much f—ing waste and fraud that has been clearly demonstrated?” Rogan said. “Like, the solution is just give more money?”
“Oh and they can do it because they have it. So what — you just give more money and now it’s $30 billion goes to homeless with no accountability?”
Rogan questioned whether the billions spent by the state and local governments are actually improving conditions.
“Like where do you think this money is going to go where it’s actually going to help people and affect things in a positive way?” he said. “There’s been no indication that that’s the case.”
He also blasted the idea that the core issue is simply that wealthy taxpayers aren’t contributing enough.
“That the real problem is they just haven’t had enough money from the billionaires — that’s f—ing ludicrous,” Rogan said. “It’s such an intellectually lazy way of framing this whole discussion.”
“F-k you, that’s not what’s going on here,” he added. “What’s going on here you have a completely incompetent government that’s absolutely corrupt and they want more money.”
Rogan’s remarks come as multiple investigations have raised serious questions about fraud and oversight failures in California programs — including a shocking probe into hospice providers in Los Angeles.
A recent investigation highlighted a stretch of Los Angeles that has become “ground zero” for alleged hospice fraud, where hundreds of hospice companies are registered within just a few miles of each other.
Analysts found that roughly 700 of the approximately 1,800 hospice providers in Los Angeles County show red flags for fraud, according to state criteria.
Investigators visiting some of the listed locations reportedly discovered empty storefronts and piles of mail, raising concerns that some providers may be shell companies billing Medicare for services that were never delivered.
“To pretend the solution is just more money,” Rogan said, “is insane.”
