Joe Rogan cheers Musk’s ‘business approach’ to government cuts

Podcast host Joe Rogan cheered on President Trump and Elon Musk’s “business approach” to cutting government spending through the mission at the “Department of Government Spending” (DOGE).

On Thursday’s episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” the podcaster praised DOGE for its attempt to reign in federal spending, even as the moves are viewed as controversial by many.

“What’s fascinating right now is we’re getting a chance to see what happens when you take a business approach to the government,” Rogan said.

He argued that the Trump administration and DOGE have uncovered “massive amounts” of “corruption and waste,” in addition to “a lot of weird, shady s—.” Over the last several days, DOGE officials have entered into various agencies and begun to look for ways to cut spending.

The U.S. Agency for International Development was essentially shuttered and DOGE now has access to the Treasury Department’s federal spending systems, which control $6 trillion annually and includes Americans’ tax records. The two moves have been sharply criticized by Democrats, who say people’s confidential and sensitive information could have been compromised.

Rogan argued that Musk and Trump are changing things up, knowing the president cannot run for a third term.

“So, he’s just going ham and he’s just cleaning out everything and people are freaking out,” he said.

“The same people that say we need radical change, we need radical change, we’ve got corruption, we need radical change,” Rogan continued. “Okay, well here’s your radical change.”

Rogan suggested that the government has been corrupt in the past and the DOGE efforts are weeding out that corruption.

“I am hoping that this is successful and that it yields a benefit to the American people, to the working class people, to everybody,” he said.

Rogan was a key player in the 2024 election. After Trump appeared on his show but former Vice President Harris did not, the ground shifted and it’s widely viewed that the podcast episode and Rogan’s endorsement earned Trump a key voting group.
