Johnny Cash's Tennessee estate is on the market for $6.25 MILLION

A sprawling Tennessee estate built by Johnny Cash for his son, John Carter Cash, that includes a 235-year-old cabin could be yours for a cool $6.25 million.

The estate, at 3120 New Hope Road, in Hendersonville, Tennessee, spans 20 acres of tree-covered, rolling land, also home to a cabin known as Dixon Cabin that dates back to 1789 – the year George Washington was sworn in as the first US President.

The main home offers two bedrooms and three bathrooms across 4,300 square feet of living space.

Known as Dogwood Estate, the property was gifted by Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash to the country’s star’s only son, and the pair’s only biological child together, in the 1980s.

The main house reached completion in 1987.

The famous couple commissioned builder-to-Nashville’s stars Braxton Dixon to design and bring to fruition the residence.

In the ’80s, the younger Cash was just a teenager who’d go on to follow in his parent’s legendary footsteps in the music industry.

Eventually, the son, now 54, becoming a singer-songwriter as well as a Grammy-winning producer who’s worked on albums with the likes of his own mom (which won a Grammy in 2000), Sheryl Crow, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Elvis Costello and Emmylou Harris, among other greats.

The location of Dogwood Estate was hardly arbitrary.

The elder Cashes had long owned a nearby spread, a six-structure compound, also spearheaded by Dixon, dubbed Sycamore Homestead.

Dogwood Estate and Sycamore Homestead in fact share a driveway that passes over a wooden, Dixon-built covered bridge.

Highlights of the home include the meticulous use of historic materials such as yellow heart pine floors, stained glass windows from Europe, Amish-built stone fireplaces, and a 30-foot-tall cathedral ceiling.

At the time of his death in 2003 at age 71, Johnny had amassed an estimated net worth of $60 million – which today is just over $100 million adjusted for inflation.

‘Legendary Charm and Country Music History Await: Dogwood Estate on Cash Mountain,’ reads the listing.

‘Step into a living testament to the heart and soul of country music history on this 20-acre Dogwood Estate, nestled atop one of Sumner County’s highest elevations where you will revel in breathtaking views that stretch as far as the eye can see.

‘While this gated historic haven offers seclusion, it’s just a short 30 minute drive away from Nashville’s vibrant heart, granting you the best of both worlds.

‘The storybook Dixon Cabin, which dates to 1789, crowns the property overlooking the main house below. It’s an opportunity to be part of the legacy!’
