In a groundbreaking achievement, the Edward Waters Tigers have secured a spot in the top 10 of the NCAA Division II regional rankings for the first time in their history.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Edward Waters Tigers have made history by entering the top 10 of the NCAA Division II regional rankings, a milestone never before reached by the program.
Guided by Head Coach Brian Jenkins, the Tigers boast a commendable 5-3 overall record, with a 4-2 mark in SIAC play. As they prepare to face Central State University for their Homecoming game this weekend, the team hopes to sustain their upward trajectory. The game is scheduled to kick off at 2 p.m. on Saturday on their home turf.
Last week, Edward Waters broke a two-game losing streak with a decisive victory over Clark Atlanta. This win was highlighted by a historic performance from one of their standout players.
Running back Johntarrious “JT” Thomas etched his name in the record books by becoming the school’s all-time single-season rushing leader, amassing 804 yards. Thomas is averaging over 100 yards per game, with an impressive average of 7.2 yards per carry.
With three games left on the schedule, Thomas is poised to push those numbers even higher.
Quarterback Noah Bodden says Thomas is more than just a star on the field, he’s a leader in the locker room.
“JT is a great teammate who’s always lifting others up,” Bodden said.
Fans can expect an electric atmosphere this weekend as the Tigers look to build on their record-setting season and celebrate Homecoming in style.
