Join the Fight Against Leukemia: Highlights from the 32nd Annual ABC7 Chicago Gibbons Run at Montrose Harbor

In a heartfelt display of community and charity, hundreds gathered in Chicago for the 32nd annual ABC7’s Gibbons Run on Saturday. Participants included runners, walkers, leukemia supporters, and survivors all uniting for a common cause.

This meaningful event honors the memory of Jim Gibbons, a beloved ABC7 reporter who succumbed to leukemia in 1994, and contributes to the fight against the disease.

The proceeds from the run and walk are dedicated to supporting the Leukemia Research Foundation, which works tirelessly to find a cure.

The 2026 edition of the ABC7 Gibbons Run features a variety of events to engage all ages, including a chip-timed 5K run, a 3K walk, a dash for kids, and a charming “tiny trot” specifically for children aged 3 and under.

Following the races, participants and supporters are invited to a celebratory gathering at Montrose Harbor, marking the culmination of a day filled with hope and solidarity.

ABC7’s Dionne Miller caught up with survivors and some that are currently battling leukemia.

Landon Gayle was diagnosed leukemia in 2025. This year, he is planning his high school graduation.
